5 weeks and 6 days :) An ultrasound and a heartbeat!

Today was an exciting day! We (Mike, Sophia and I) went to our second doctor's appointment. We thought we'd see a bigger baby #2 but as fate would have it, we didn't. As a matter of fact, it was quite the opposite! We did, however, get to see the baby via an ultrasound! Which was fantastic!! We all saw the wee little one, saw the baby's heartbeat and we even HEARD the heartbeat!!! Now for the kicker (no puns intended), the baby is measuring 5 weeks 6 days!!! So, I'm not as far along as the nurse has suspected, our new due date is September 17, 2013. Which doesn't surprise me a bit. Not to get into to many details so lets put it this way, GOD wanted us to have this baby so we are! Now, don't start taking that out of context, all I mean is, I don't have a clue where I was in my cycle last month so trying to pin-point a due date could bounce around a bit.... Now, onto the appointment!

So we were sitting there (Mike and Soph were sitting behind the curtain but they could see the giant tv that displayed the baby), I was laying there and the nurse says, "There it is, the little grain of rice." :)  I asked her if we could see or hear the baby's heartbeat? So she scanned over the sac and wah lah! There it was!!!! The little heartbeat just a gettin it!! :) PRECIOUS!!! Then she turned on the sound, side note - technology today is remarkable! I mean seriously, I was watching this show on a big screen!, and we heard the sweet sound of our second baby's heart beating.....:) Such a sweet sound. It was beating a rate of 103 per minute. The nurse was pleasantly surprised that we could not only see the baby's heartbeat but we could HEAR it too, with it being so early in the pregnancy! This baby is a champ and really wants to be in this world, that's a definite given!!!
So, after the ultrasound I met with the doctor. He was a cool guy! He told me that we probably wouldn't have another ultrasound until we get closer to the 20 week mark. He also said that we might have an ultrasound around the 36 week mark because Soph was a big baby (9 lbs 1 oz, 21 in) this one might be big too. I don't know why he was telling me this. I am guessing he thinks I'm a picture junky.... WOW - he's right! Good doc and that's the first time we met!
Another quick fact, the doctor's office that I'm going to is a team of 4 doctors. So I'm not real sure which one I will see and when. That doesn't bother me, I told them to just make sure there's a doctor there for the appointments and the birth! ha! That was pretty much the bulk of the appointment. Oh, he also said, no raw hotdogs, tuna fish once a month and something else about listeria...I can't remember the third thing. It amazes me at how the studies change over the years... I mean, this pregnancy is already way different from when I was pregnant with Sophia. I don't mean the symptoms are different, I mean the world and what people believe and teach are different... yeah, this pregnancy is about the same as the one with Soph... just gaining weight like porky pig! I must be pregnant with a girl. LOL
I was secretly, (well... maybe not so secretly) hoping for twins :) I know it's nuts but "Hey" :) I LOVE being a twin and I would love to have twins, growing up in this world is tough! It never hurts to have someone by your side through it all! Why not start that bond in the womb with a womb-mate ;-) ha! The next appointment is February 20, 2013 at 4:00 pm.

First doctor visit went well :)

So today we went to the doctor for the prenatal visit. We've been given a due date of 9-9-13. They took some blood and talked to us about our insurance. So, overall it went well!! Sophia wanted to go straight to the hospital so we could deliver, "lightening McQueen" :) That's what Sophia named the new baby :) Our next appointment is January 21st. So more to follow.

Big sister has some questions :)

I was up working on our calendar project and I hear the pocket door slide open.... here comes big sister! She said she didn't sleep that good because her neck hurts. I asked her," Why does your neck hurt?" Sophia said, "Because I was looking down but she didn't get up and talk to Daddy all night.' Very good point about not getting up to talk to Daddy, which is a good thing. I'm not sure what to think about her neck hurting because she was looking down. LOL... So I told her she was going to have a little brother or sister sleep next to her in the bedroom across the hall that she would need to look out for. That immediately peaked her interest!

Sophia then asked, "Mommy, you have a baby brother or sister in your stomach?" I said, "Yes honey." Then Sophia said," Who is the baby's Mommy and Daddy?" I giggled a little but she was very serious! I said," Your Mommy and Daddy." Well this confused her a little. Soph then said, " The baby is his Mommy and Daddy?" :)

I said, " No honey, you have to share your Mommy and Daddy with the baby brother or sister." I guess this satisfied her curiosity because then she said, " I already have a baby sister and her name is Zoe!" I said, " That is your cousin, honey."

We segwayed yet again! Sophia said, " There's a baby in St. Mary's Ga." I said, "ok." Soph then said, " Mommy what's that baby's name in St, Mary's Ga?" I had to think for a second because technically she didn't really know any babies in St. Mary's Ga. :)

Then light dawned on marble head, and oh! I said,  " Baby Addison?" Soph thought for a second...."yeah." she said. :)

and then the conversation was done. I love the conversations we have. She is a smart big sister and is going to teach the baby so much!!!

On the baby front, I haven't exactly been convinced that I'm pregnant so Mike and I discussed the idea of getting one more home pregnancy test to confirm that I am indeed pregnant :) I'm not sure why I wasn't convinced but I was that way when I found out I was pregnant with Sophia so it must be par for the course. Oh, so Mike got a stick yesterday and well.. here's what is said:

2012 comes to an end with peeing on a stick (POAS)!

So, it's New Years Day 2013! Boy oh boy was it a busy 2012 or WHAT!!! So much so that we are coasting into 2013 with a plateful of blessings. One in particular would be a positive pregnancy test! Lets back up and take a look at how we arrived to this wonderful day! (More details on Miracle#2 as we progress with the pregnancy)

Starting in July-ish of 2006 :) Yeah, I'm just hitting the highlights, ok :) Mike and I met, fell in love and decided we wanted to get married. I remember when we told each other, it was January 2007, we were driving back to St. Mary's GA after a christmas visit with our families, we had the scion packed so full we didn't have much room to sit! KJ had a tiny spot in the backseat, I had a square spot on the passanger seat and Mike drove sitting straight up! It was a car ride to remember!!! Not to mention, we talked about getting married. He said we should go to the court house because he would make alot more money (He was in the Navy) if he were married, vice being single. Hmmm, that sounded great... well, atleast for a thought.
Fast forward a little to 2008, we were married in our church in St. Mary's, surrounded by our family and friends. It was memoriable for a couple reasons, one we were finally married (if you didn't catch that part, we didn't get married in a courthouse, we decided to plan a wedding and have everyone there.). Number 2: Jon, Dad, Liz and Kraig installed our sprinkler system and.... last but not least, I was 4 months pregnant with our first miracle: Sophia Kendall Dempsey :)

March of 2012 we moved From St. Mary's to Alabama. We miss MyMy-T-T, Andi, Jim, Jimmy, Tony - all the NG folks, Robin and Michael and well since that was our family in SE Georgia they will always have a place in our hearts and our home!
